During the period of 19th to 22nd of July 2018, LTCP UN-UNESCO in cooperation with IIMSAM organized summer ’18 camp with the theme Beat the Plastic Pollution. It took place at TU Berlin Campus - El Gouna, and created a unique atmosphere for innovation, teamwork and learning. The camp combines lectures, workshops, hands-on experiments, and social activities; to foster the participant’s learning experience. 2018-Theme: Beat the Plastic Pollution: The theme for this Summer Camp 2018 was to simply teach the youth about the three R’s of the environment “Reuse-Reduce-Recycle” and how to practically and effectively apply them. Following the fact that more than 30% of our waste is packaging material; then it is widely advisable not to get rid of this waste, instead; we could make full use of it in more smart and eco-friendly ways such as: Reusing our packaging things again instead of throwing them away, this could be done in simple and creative ways though. What’s more is: Recycling what is possible from the materials we use in our daily life. Recycled items are put through a process that makes it possible to create new products out of the materials from the old ones. Last but not least, we cannot ignore that: Reducing our daily amount of waste is the best way to help our environment.
Attended the camp: (Photo-left) Dr. Amaal Rezk - Special-Adviser-Envoy of the Secretary-General of IIMSAM who interacted with all the participants to let them know more about IIMSAM and it’s objectives. IIMSAM is one of the strategic partners as Dr. Amaal performed the orientation about the IIMSAM-Mandate, Protocols, and what is an IGO like IIMSAM to all participants and all delegates who were oblivious about IIMSAM. After the seminar they were all aware of IIMSAM’s profile as an observer IGO at UN HQ in New York and its most important Mandate against the number one killer in the world hunger/acute malnutrition.
