Beth Yingling is partner with the law firm of McCarter & English, LLP in Newark, New Jersey. She is a member of the Firm’s Tax and Employee Benefits Practice Group. A New Jersey native, Ms. Yingling graduated cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from William Smith College in 1976, earned her J. D. degree from Rutgers School of Law - Newark in 1982 and Master of Laws degree in Taxation from New York University in 1987.
Ms. Yingling is expert in federal tax exemption matters, as well as state tax exemption and nonprofit corporation issues under the New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Delaware laws. She has extensive experience in working with nonprofit and tax-exempt organizations, including their governance, organization, reorganization, affiliations and acquisitions, mergers and other transactional work. She has been personally responsible for filing numerous applications for recognition of exemption and IRS ruling requests for Section 501(c)(3) organizations and other types of tax-exempt organizations.
She also provides advice regarding charitable giving techniques. This includes advising individuals and business entities about the myriad types of gifts that may be given and ways of making deductible contributions to charitable organizations, and assisting charitable organizations in their pursuit of donations.
Ms. Yingling is a member of the Amercian Bar Association’s Tax and Business Law Sections, the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Tax and Corporate Law Sections, and the American Health Lawyers Association. In addition to advising nonprofit and tax-exempt foundations, social service organizations, educational institutions, museums, and other organizations, Ms. Yingling has served, and continues to serve, as a trustee of such organizations.
