bio	Oussama Sami El Aawar	Special-Envoy/Representative of the Secretary-General in Federal Republic of Nigeria
Oussama Sami El Aawar, was born in Qarnil Lebanon in 1975. He is a pioneer in strategic logistics of remote areas of Lebanon. His father Sheikh Sami Ali El Aawar was a big influence on the society, culture and healthcare programs of Lebanon. At the time it was very difficult to transport medical supplies and medicine to the mountainous area of Oussama's province. With the guidance of his father Sheikh Sami, Oussama started developing roads and bridges to facilitate its access and mobility. As a believer of capacity building, infrastrure-development and empowering people to be self sustainable with a emphasis on education Oussama traveled to many GCC countries to augment his practical experience and business know how. During his travels he became very fascinated in the structural and modernisation of Dubai, UAE. He understood the visionary leadership of HH Vice President and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai was achieving through a strong hands on approach body of government in Dubai, UAE. He decided to open a construction company called Srayedin L.L.C., in order to build more resources for his humanitarian endevours in Lebanon. With the help of his father, Oussama financed many impoverished people with Cancer treatments, Charities, Scholarships, Educational Projects, inter alia. As a result of his goodwill with concrete deeds in rural areas of Lebanon, he was asked by a Nigerian progressive provincial leader, who lived in Lebanon to help them start some humanitarian projects as well. In Nigeria, Oussama focused on infra-structure- development roads, bridges and capacity building for institutional development. Oussama was able to transport medical supplies and commodities to inaccessible areas of Nigeria. This gave him the opportunity to see first-hand the poverty stricken under develop areas of Nigeria. With IIMSAM Oussama "A Humanitarian Par Excellance" will be acting as catalyst in improving the IIMSAM Institutional Development and its Mandate in support of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals. His IIMSAM-Portfolio will include capacity building, implementation of Spirulina Distribution Programmes worldwide, as well as expanding IIMSAM's Resources Gathering with the aim of fiscally securing IIMSAM's Mandate for programme implementation with concrete deeds. bio	H.E. Ambassador George Hara	Special Envoy of the Secretary General
H.E. Ambassador George Hara is an archaeologist, entrepreneur/industrialist. Ambassador Hara served as Senior Advisor to the Ministry of Finance, and the Prime Minister's Special Commissioner on the Government Tax Panel, as Advisor to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, and as a member of various government committees, including Japan's Industrial Structure Council of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. In these capacities, Ambassador Hara's efforts are aimed at lowering tax rates while increasing tax revenues in order to enable the Japanese government to establish fiscal discipline. He was also appointed as Special Advisor to the President of the Republic of ZAMBIA. In the private sector, Mr. Hara founded DEFTA Partners in 1984 and became a Partner at Accel Partners in 1990. He was considered one of the most prominent Silicon Valley venture capitalists in ICT in the 1990s and has led more than twenty companies - including Borland, PictureTel, SCO, Tradex, and Unify - to success. Since 2000, Hara has served as chairman of the board in, or helped to manage, a number of companies such as Oplus Technologies (merged with Intel in 2005), Broadware (merged with Cisco in 2007), Transitive Tech (merged with IBM in 2008) and Fortinet (NASDAQ IPO in 2009).Ambassador Hara currently serves as Chairman of the Alliance Forum Foundation (AFF), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization comprised of a number of divisions, notably the Alliance Forum Development Program (AFDP) and the Public Interest Capitalism Research Institute (AFRI). AFDP implements the organization's international development activities focused on (1) eradicating malnutrition, (2) improving education and health care, and (3) promoting economic self-reliance and empowerment in developing nations. On the other hand, he works to conduct research and define new models for post-financial capitalism to replace the prevailing shareholder-centric model of capitalism which lies at the root of global financial crises. Ambassador Hara has also previously served on the boards of the San Francisco Opera, University of San Francisco, Tokyo Foundation, Japan Society and the Hara Research Foundation. In 2003, Hara received the National Leadership Award and was named Honorary Co-Chairman of the Business Advisory Council (Republican Party) in the US. Ambassador Hara was born in Osaka, Japan, in 1952. After graduating from Keio University's Faculty of Law, Hara became involved in archaeological research in Central America until the age of 27. Following this, he enrolled in the Stanford MBA Program in California and received a Master of Science degree from the Stanford University Graduate School of Engineering after a period serving as a UN Fellow. He is also the author of numerous publications, including a Japanese best-seller entitled 21 Seiki no Kokufuron (An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations in the 21st Century), published by Heibonsha in 2007, and Atarashii Shihonshugi (New Capitalism) published by PHP in 2009. Economics Queen Mary College, UK 1966-1968: A - Levels London Academy, UK 1962-1965: High School Uasin Gishu Secondary School, Kenya Professional Experience I am the Managing Director of a portfolio of over 20 companies many of which, over the years, have been successfully turned around from insolvency, receivership and near collapse to sustained profitability and growth. During this time I have built, and continue to maintain, a workforce of 9,000. The primary sectors of the economy in which I have a substantial interest include manufacturing, distribution, real estate and insurance. Manufacturing Division The Manufacturing arm comprises of edible foods, packaging, plastics as well as steel. • The edible foods divisions' primary businesses are wheat, maize milling, edible palm and corn oils, and biscuit manufacturing. • The packaging material divisions comprise of polypropylene bags, sisal bags as well as HDPE bags. • The plastic divisions comprise of PVC pipes and fittings, as well as PPR extruded products primarily used in water projects as well as electrical applications. • The steel division comprise of regionally located steel mills that primarily manufacture re-enforcement steel bars as well as sections, mainly produced for the vibrant constriction industry in the East African Community. Distribution Division • The Distribution arm of the business comprises an expanding transportation fleet of over 300 trucks servicing the various manufacturing companies and depot network across the country and within the East African region. Real Estate and Insurance • As part of our diversification strategy, there have been significant investments in real estate and real estate development within Kenya. • Through the insurance business we provide an extensive product range servicing both personal and commercial risk needs through a network of branches around the country. Due to the diverse nature of my business portfolio and substantial expertise within industry I am often called upon by various Government and Non-Governmental Organizations to advise, discuss and consult on matters affecting business leaders, industries and investors. Social Responsibility I was President of the Rotary Club of Nairobi in 2006/2007. A life changing and most humbling experience a considerable part of the year was spent on social projects focusing on the growth and development of impoverished areas within the Kenyan community. Some of these projects included: Eye Camps The Eye Camps in Kisii provided thousands of people with free treatment including cataract operations. Eye Bank The Rotary Club of Nairobi together with The Nairobi Hospital committed to establishing the first ever Eye Bank in East Africa. Kilimambogo 2006/2007 saw our first visit to the Mission Hospital in Kilimambogo. The Club arranges for voluntary dentists from across the globe to provide free dental services to those who cannot afford it. Mathare and Huruma Rotary Community Corps There was greater focus on the Mathare project and 2006/2007 also saw the launch of the Huruma Rotary Community Corps. Kaptagat Water & Sanitation Project This project was initiated during the year and its aim is to provide water fetching points together with toilets and bathroom facilities to those living in a significantly deprived area. It is now a successfully self-managed project where residents charge a small fee to cover maintenance costs. Cura Rotary Community Corps The CRCC is a model project and during 2006/2007 it was fortunate to receive several computers donated by the US together with financial support from the Rotary Club of Indianapolis. 2007 World Understanding Day This was undoubtedly the most successful and profile raising event organized by the Club and one of the biggest events witnessed in the history of Rotary in Kenya. The event was held to commemorate the founding of Rotary and was attended by both HE President Mwai Kibaki and former President Daniel Arap Moi. Also present were most cabinet ministers, senior government officials, over 100 diplomats, various heads of the UN agencies and international organizations, business leaders and Rotarians. In recognition of the event the Rotary Club of Nairobi won the 2007 Public Relations International Award. Sleeping Children Around the World (SCAW) This is a recurring project where the Club partners with the Canadian charity SCAW to distribute bed-kits to children in primary schools and homes. In 2006/2007 the project received tremendous support from the Club as more members were encouraged to participate. Enterprise Awards This scheme encourages and recognizes innovation in small scale enterprises. In 2006/2007 three finalists were presented with their awards at a colorful ceremony that received plenty of publicity. Wheelchairs The Wheelchair Foundation Club together with other Rotary Clubs and support from the Marie Rehema Foundation pledged to purchase several wheelchairs to be donated to those individuals in need. Spina Bifida Project - Kijabe Mission Hospital In partnership with the Rotary Club of Cataraqui-Kingston in District 7040 Canada the Club received $70,000 from The Rotary Foundation to meet the costs of operating on children suffering from Spina Bifida. Water & Sanitation Project in City Primary Schools The Club installed water tanks and constructed sanitation blocks and toilets for disabled children at various city schools including Jogoo Road Primary School, Githurai Primary School and Mbagathi Road Primary School. Mbagathi also benefited from a kitchen installed by Club members to provide hot meals for the children. Pure Water Project & Developing a Good Working Partnership with the Rotary Club of Hammond (US) Focusing on a drive to provide safer drinking water the Club, assisted by the Rotary Cub of Hammond, procured and distributed water purifying sachets to various communities across the country. Movie Premieres Our first ever movie premieres fund raising events held during the year were attended by members and their friends and families and were a resounding success! Over KShs 500,000/- was raised for charitable causes. Eng. Aref Jazza Abed-Kareem RTEIMEH is an Engineer and business man and has been working in the Aviation Field for more than a decade, in the United States as well as in the Middle East.
