Hussain Al-Jassmi

As an IIMSAM Goodwill Ambassador he will advocate for the use of Spirulina in fighting severe malnutrition worldwide as well as support IIMSAM's goals and mandate by assisting IIMSAM in the gathering of resources to implement its programmes worldwide and making IIMSAM a household name in the GCC & throughout the Arab Region.

The Beginning

Hussain Al-Jassmi, the Emirate artist, started his artistic career after being launched by the TV program Layali Dubai during the Dubai Shopping Festival in 1997-1998 scoring first in the Gulf world and second in the Arab world.

A Childhood Dream

Since his childhood, Hussain Al-Jassmi only dream was to have his own songs and to present his albums full of emotions in front of an audience this dream got realized and this talented fellow became a star since his beginning. Hussain Al-Jassmi presented three official albums of his own personal songs that proved an international success in different Arab countries these albums were released in the years 2002, 2004 and 2006 in the years 2007, he presented an album titled "Ihtart Aabar" which entailed 14 songs from the best personal songs that he performed in drama, television and movie works, as well as in  national and private events. At the end of 2009, Al Jassmi launched his fourth official album "Al-Jassmi 2010" which Rotana Company titled (10 years of success), a culmination of his artistic journey that lasted 10 years with this company.

Hussain Al-Jassmi has also filmed 2 songs in video clips, the first being from his album "bawada3ak" and the other one "Ya Sighr el Farah" from his second album. Both works were directed by Ahmad Mehdi. During 2010, he will be getting ready to film one of the songs from his new album preserving the concept he had started and that is to present a social theme through his video clips.

His photographs were very distinguished ones designed by Max Cardelli who shot a number of photographs for him in England. These photos decorated his album covers "Al Jassmi 2006" and his recent ones "Al Jassmi 2010". In addition to his talent as a singer, Hussain Al-Jassmi proved to be a special composer even though his compositions were very scarce. One of the remarkable works that he has dedicated to his co-stars was his song "mashkalni" for the artist Rashed El Majed and another one "Aandi Sou'al" for the artist Abdallah el Rouwayshed. He also cooperated with a number of stars and composed his own works one of which famously known as "Fakadtek" and "W ma Yeswa" and his new album songs "Wajad Kalbi", "Al Taj" and "Al Maw9id", in addition to his writing a number of songs. 

Moments of Pride

His ride in the music world is unique. Al-Jassmi considers his singing in the presence of his Excellency the late Sheik Zayed Bin Sultan Al-Nahyan in the March "For Love and Loyalty" his first success. His first song from the lyrics of the late prince gave him great fame and was the cornerstone for coming success through participating in festivals in the Gulf and all over the Arab World.

Hussain Al-Jassmi is the first Arab artist to sing in the famous Lido Hall in Paris, and has appeared on other theaters in Paris, London, Cannes, Geneva and Marbella.

In 2009, Hussain AlJassmi participated in many public concerts and a series of huge festivals among which was his unique participation in "MAWAZEEN" festival under the title of "World Rhythms" where he was the only Gulf artist with a group of world stars in this huge artistic movement that was sponsored by the Moroccan King. He also participated in "Layali Febrayer"in Kuwait where he attended as a guest of honour in the international celebration of the Palestinian commissariat in Paris which was held with the participation of the world stars to support the children of "Gaza". AlJassmi was also the star of the national festival for the Moroccan song, which was held by the union of the Moroccan artists in the Moroccan Marrakesh.

One of his important participation was when Hussain Al-Jassmi acted as a representative on behalf of the Emirati artists in the huge festival that was held on the occasion of the 40th memorial of Al Fattih Revolution in Libya in September in the presence of the Libyan Leader "Moammar Al KaZafi".

In addition to the Arab and world festivals, AlJassmi has participated in many local events throughout the year 2009 whereby he concluded the third season for the festival of "Shaer Al Malyon" on Abu-Dhabi TV, he also has participated in the end festival of "The Almeedan" program sponsored by his highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohamad Al Maktoum the crown prince of Dubai, as he also participated in the operetta "Sittoun Men Zahab" for Sakr el Arab to honour his Excellency Sheikh Sakr El Nouaimy ruler of The Ras El Khaima Emirate. Hussein El Jassmi came as a guest in the opening of the new season of "Najm El Khaleej" Program on Dubai TV.

In 2009, Hussain AL Jassmi shared the people in his homeland their happiness on the occasion of the UAE 38th National Day as he performed in 3 festivals respectively Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Zayed City . Each year, Hussain Al Jassmi visits and supports the special needs students all over the Arab world who occupy special place in his heart.

Stardom Everywhere

Hussain Al-Jassmi's presence was always distinctive. He has appeared in some of the national operettas in UAE such as 'Fi Al Kalb Zayed' and ' Um El Emirate' operetta and 'Zayed Ghars' operetta. He was brilliant in his appearances outside the country in festivals of the national independence day of Bahrain and "Al-Mahabba" Festival in Cairo and the Festival of Damascus, the Capital of Arab Culture, in addition to national festivals in Kuwait, Oman and KSA.

• The magazine "Zahrat Al Khaleej" has honoured him through its 30th anniversary and has awarded him the decoration of the best Arab artist of the year, and has given him the name "The Emperor of the Arab song" that his fans adored.

Everlasting Songs

'Bawadaak' and ' Ma Yeswa' are two songs that have been included in the Musical Library in Tunisia as everlasting songs and were effective in the history of the Arabic Songs. Some of his works has been registered in a number of local and Arab musical libraries.

His appearances on TV are numbered but they are well-planned. He has appeared in some of the best programs on different channels, and he has participated in crowning the first champion of The X Factor on Rotana and appeared in the fourth season of Studio 2M on Channel 2 Morroco.

In 2008, Hussain Al-Jassmi reopened Funoon Al-Emarat, one of the most famous and well established studio in its field, after he bought it and refurbished it with the best equipment to serve his career and the career of other artists in the Arab world. H.E. Mr. Diego Armando Maradona

IIMSAM's goodwill ambassador from Argentina Mr. Diego Maradona went to Bolivia to help the victims of the earthquake. Ambassador Maradona has promoted IIMSAM and its cause at an unprecedented scale using his worldwide repute. He has been promoting a Spirulina nutritional supplemental programme in some of the most impoverished areas of Argentina, Bolivia and Venezuela.

He has been instrumental to liaison on behalf of IIMSAM with President Hugo Chavez of Venezuela in order to acquire resources to implement the programmes in South America. He was instrumental to procure Spirulina from Cuba that would be used to eradicate malnutrition in Honduras and Haiti.

In the aftermath of the recent terrorist attacks, Mr. Diego Maradona arrived in the Republic of India on the 6th of December 2008 to promote various humanitarian causes. He also visited the renowned ashram of the famed humanitarian world icon Mother Teresa in Calcutta to explore ways for an IIMSAM Spirulina distribution partnership to alleviate the sufferings of the local population suffering caused by malnutrition. He also visited an Indian Football School which hopefully will be forming a partnership with IIMSAM`s CAMP MARADONA® Football Programme. He was greeted by thousands of Indian Peoples whose painful memories of the recent terrorist attack on India were soothed by his visit and charismatic presence.

IIMSAM'S GOODWILL AMBASSADOR IN SUPPORT OF THE UN MDGs THROUGH THE IIMSAM MANDATE IN FIGHTING MALNUTRITION.

"I am delighted to be back in IIMSAM as a GWA and to contribute in IIMSAM's efforts to help the people suffering from malnutrition in the world and I will use my privilege position to show how even individual contributions from individual people can help to ease those that are suffering particularly children. Providing proper nutrition with Spirulina to children and others is a simple and effective way of saving the next generation, and building a better future for millions, said Monica Seles.

As customary IIMSAM GWAs as part of their portfolio includes visiting the IIMSAM's Dar al Muamineen IIMSAM Centre in Kisumu, Republic of Kenya which received over 100,000 spirulina feeding visits last fiscal year (April to April 2009-2010) from children and adults suffering from malnutrition and other deprivations and diseases resulting from undernourishment amongst disabled children and others suffering from malnutrition and HIV/Aids. Ambassador Seles will also visit participating schools of the IIMSAM outreach Spirulina nutritional programme, as well as other projects worldwide where IIMSAM will provide proper nutrition with Spirulina to children adults and others suffering from severe malnutrition. Over the past year, the compounding effects of the economic crisis - which followed the 2008 high food price crisis - has pushed the number of hungry and malnourished past one billion for the first time in history.

A professional tennis player who battled her way to the pinnacle of her sport at a remarkably tender age, Monica Seles grew up as a native of Novi Sad in then-Yugoslavia (now Serbia), the daughter of a newspaper cartoonist-cum-animator. On many levels, 1990 represented Seles' "breakthrough year" -- a year that witnessed the then-16-year-old defeating the likes of Martina Navratilova and Steffi Graf, reportedly earning more than 700,000 dollars and clocking in as the youngest female contender to win a Grand Slam in over a century. A renowned designer who celebrates and epitomizes the essence of woman in her creations and acclaimed works that find a tremendous appeal which transcend continents, Mrs. Herrera was awarded with the prestigious “Women’s-wear Designer of the Year” from the Council of Fashion Designers of America. Most recently, H.E. Carolina Herrera launched a diffusion collection ‘CH Carolina Herrera’ in Europe.

With a keen esthetic sense that finds manifestation in her style that seeks simplicity in intricacy, H.E. Carolina Herrera would contribute with her faculties towards the complex issue of malnutrition and to find amiable solutions in the context of development deficit, gender divide, and natality equality. In particular, she wants to focus her energies to counter malnourishment in the womb that results either in infant or maternal mortality, or reduces future cognitive development of a child, with traditionally disempowered groups such as women and children bearing the disproportionate brunt of the ill.

H.E Carolina Herrera states, "If my work at the IIMSAM were to save the life of even one child from the forty thousand children that die of malnutrition and related diseases each day, I would consider it the greatest work of my life."

Her contributions would play a significant role to check the reproduction of poverty from one generation to the next that results because of malnutrition and must be tackled to meet the United Nations Millennium Development Goals.

Mr. Tushar Gandhi

Mr. Tushar Gandhi (b.17th January 1960) is the great-grandson of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, the Mahatma. Tushar is a socio-political activist of peace issues, who also heads the Mahatma Gandhi Foundation.

In 2000, he was instrumental to initiate the “Mahatma of the World Wide Web project” with the help of the Non Resident Indians of the TIE group of USA, an association of Silicon Valley Billionaries of Indian origins. Tushar was also appointed to a sub committee of the Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti by the Prime Minister of India.

In 2001, Tushar was invited by the NGO “Peace Initiatives”, to join a group of journalists and social activists to visit the strife torn Kashmir, to interact with the leaders of the separatist “Hurriyat Conference”, the police and the Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir with the aim to explore the possibility of achieving peace through development and economic programmes.

A noted Gandhian himself, he has been involved with the US based NGO “Seeds for Peace” which works with children from various strife torn regions of the world, at their camp in Maine.

In 2002, Tushar was invited to London by EMMA, a minorities cultural organization, to receive the Immortal Legends award on behalf of his great-grandfather, Mahatma Gandhi. In the autumn of 2002, Tushar was invited by the Lord Mayor of London to participate and speak at a seminar organized under the auspices of the Black History Month celebrated by the GLA. Tushar also spoke at the Inner Temple Society on “Human Rights post September 11: The Role of the Judiciaty”. Along with Ms. Yolanda King, daughter of Dr. Martin Luther King jr.; Ms. Zindzi Mandela, daughter of Nelson Mandela; Ms. Attallah Shahbazz, daughter of Malcom X; and Mr. Gamal Nkurmah, son of Kwame Nkurmah, Tushar was the main speaker at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Lecture at the Nehru Centre in London.

A member of the Indian National Congress, Tushar has been active in protesting against religious fundamentalism and fanaticism of any kind. The Mahatma Gandhi Foundation has helped in establishing peace through mutually dependent relationships between religious communities by partnering with local groups.

In 2005, to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the famous Dandi March (Salt Satyagraha) undertaken by Mahatma Gandhi in 1930, in defiance of the Salt monopoly of the British rule, Tushar organized a walk for Peace, Justice and Freedom. The 241 miles (385.6 KM) long walk was completed along with over 600 marchers from India, Pakistan and all over the world.

In April 2005, the Mahatma Gandhi Foundation and Tushar were awarded the first Mahatma Mahaveer Award by the TIMES Foundation in recognition of his work in promoting the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi.

Tushar strives to create one of India’s biggest electronic archive on the World Wide Web to help Bridge the digital divide that threatens to widen the economic and developmental gap between the “Have Too Much” and the “Have Nothing” segments of the Indian population; and to provide educational, healthcare and employment opportunities to the economically weaker and rural sections of India.

Besides doing a cameo as himself in the Bollywood flick ‘He’ Ram’ based on the life of the Mahatma, Tushar has also written a chapter for a book on the importance of Country Level Domain Names on the internet. He has long been crusading popularize the India specific Country Code Top Level Domain .in on the World Wide Web.

H.E. Ms. Angélica María, IIMSAM's Goodwill Ambassador, is popularly known as La Novia de México is a renowned actress and singer-songwriter from the Republic of Mexico. One of the most respected and beloved performer of Mexico, Ms. Maria is a widely respected milestone of the entertainment industry. She has also acted in various Hollywood movies.

Ms. Maria would play an instrumental role in various initiatives of the IIMSAM to realise a world free of hunger and malnutrition. She would use her sphere of influence to highlight the immense plight of the peoples of the world caused by malnutrition; and would raise various resources necessary to make Spirulina a key-driver to achieve global food security and bridge the health divide.
