Production

Today, the Spirulina project has moved to the next phase towards the goal of local production. AFF is currently planning to start a pilot production in collaboration with University of Zambia (UNZA) School of Agriculture Science. In the pilot production, we aim to understand the production level, as well as to transfer the technology of Spirulina production to local players. At the same time, AFF plans to start a feasibility study on commercialization of Spirulina.

In order to eradicate malnutrition, reaching to lower-income households who typically suffer from malnourishment is important. Therefore, when commercialization is achieved, different types of Spirulina processed foods will be developed for lower-income households and higher-income households. By doing so, we can provide Spirulina in an affordable price to lower-income people while still achieving a sustainable business model.

AFF will continue working for improving the nutritional status of Zambia, and Africa in the future.

Corporate Partners
AFF is now accepting corporate partners who are interested in participating in the Spirulina project as a mean of “Cause Related Marketing” or “Strategic CSR”. In this partnership, a corporate partner provides Spirulina dishes or food products to health-conscious Japanese customers at the same time improving nutrition in Africa.
